Award-winning, professional drummer, and Musical Director for Pharrell and N.E.R.D, Darrell Robinson, II will host the 10th Annual “Thanksgiving Shed” - an evening of musical expression and performances from professional artists and musicians that is designed to inspire and motivate those who have an interest and passion for music and the arts. Celebrating a decade of the “Thanksgiving Shed”, it will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the World Café Live, 3025 Walnut Street in Philadelphia. There is a special appreciation for musicians and artists that come out of Philadelphia that can be seen across major television networks, and on national and international stages. Darrell has taken on the challenge of bringing together groups of decorated and experienced Philadelphia natives who have succeeded in music, into one setting to showcase its impact and influence. This event provides tools and accessibility to experienced musicians for aspiring musicians. The ‘Thanksgiving Shed” has historically attracted over 700 attendees under one roof. A highlight of the event is the “Next Gen Spotlight” and our contributions to Covenant House, a shelter for homeless youth. In this time of economic cutbacks in our schools and communities the Arts are usually the first to go. “Next Gen Spotlight” supports the arts by encouraging young talent and giving them a platform during the “Thanksgiving Shed” to perform. Over the years, we have successfully helped to facilitate relationships that...

Anthony David was born Anthony Harrington in Savannah, Georgia. A Gulf War vet, he began writing songs during a stint in the military in Iraq, where as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne he took part in 28 combat missions. Writing songs was a life- affirming act while facing the real possibility of dying. He got involved in the music scene in Atlanta in the late 1990s, meeting a then-unknown singer-songwriter India.Arie; they became friends and collaborators, with Anthony co-writing songs on her first three albums, which spawned a number of Grammy nominations, singing back-up for her on tour and eventually opening for her. This visibility led to the release of Anthony's debut album Three Chords & The Truthreleased in 2004 on the Atlanta independent Brash Records, carving out a unique lane with his personalized brand of acoustic soul. Extensive touring revealed Anthony to be a free-wheeling, engaging performer, able to hold a crowd with just the sound of his voice and an acoustic guitar. A second independent album, The Red Clay Chronicles, led to a deal with Universal Records, which released Acey Duecy, a compilation of the best tracks from his first two albums, yielding a hitduet with India.Arie and a Grammy nomination. Thanks to the release of his albums by labels in the UK and Japan, Anthonytoured extensively abroad, building aninternational audience. With unusual harmonies, strong ballads and some funky reggae compositions, ReddPanda creates colorful imagery for listening and dancing pleasure. ILL DOOTS is a group of individuals with different perspectives, from different places, who want nothing more than to make good music with no rules. Juxtaposing raw, wild, and uncommon original 7-inch vinyl sides by unsung artists on the beat for today’s dance floor, Jonathan Toubin and his New York Night Train party machine’s persistent nightly work has carved out a unique space in contemporary culture and influenced scores of DJs and parties everywhere. While best known for throwing the world’s most popular and prolific soul party, the Soul Clap and Dance-Off, and NYC’s biggest and longest-running weekly rock’n’roll dance, Shakin’ All Over Under Sideways Down!, he’s also spent the last decade turning over 2000 gigs at hundreds of nightclubs, art spaces, all-ages warehouses, afterhours, rock concerts, and dozens of major music festivals on five continents – from Bonnaroo to Benicassim, from Tasmania to Tel Aviv. Meanwhile, back in the States, reimagining the map, creating its own continental circuit for a new demographic, and hitting it hard over a decade, Thee Clap broke barriers coast to coast to become America’s only touring 21st Century soul shindig. The low-fi spectacle is also the first DJ party with its own entire night at Lincoln Center’s Midsummer Night’s Swing and the first DJ party with an entire night of official South By Southwest showcases - and has remained the conference’s official closing party for six years. New York Night Train’s Soul Proprietor is also the first 45 DJ with Burger Records cassettes and the first living DJ with compilations on the legendary Norton Records - with five Souvenirs of the...

The electronic project VNV ("Victory Not Vengeance") Nation was conceived in London in 1990 by Ronan Harris, debuting in May of that year with the 12-inch "Body Pulse." "Strength of Youth" followed a few months later, and at the end of the year Harris relocated to Toronto, where VNV Nation opened for Nitzer Ebb on their Canadian tour. After moving back to Europe, Harris released only a handful of compilation tracks in the years to follow before signing with the German label Discordia in 1995 to issue the full-length Advance and Follow. Three years later, VNV Nation resurfaced on another German label, Off-Beat, an alliance which generated the LP Praise the Fallen as well as the EP Solitary. Empires, which was issued with another European distributor Dependent, and on Metropolis in the U.S., followed in the spring of 2000. Singles such as "Standing" and "Dark Angel" were club mainstays, boasting Ronan Harris' love for pulsating club rhythms and his developing seascapes of dark ambient waves. Mix projects Genesis.1 and Genesis.2 followed that format in 2001, giving a sneak preview to VNV Nation's Futureperfect. - Jason Ankeny In postmodern times, when listening habits and perception permanently keep being adjusted, it is hard to make reliable prophecies concerning the future of the music industries or their producers. So it seems even more delightful that DE/VISION remain solid as a rock in such turbulent times. For more than twenty years Steffen Keth and Thomas Adam have been...
