    FRIDAY
    6 PM
National Sawdust, 80 North 6TH St, Brooklyn, NY

Young alt-pop mastermind and piano singer-songwriter Natti Vogel is rapidly becoming New York’s buzziest independent artist with his stunning new orchestral EP “Serving Body” and its equally inimitable array of music videos. His live shows, where Vogel’s conservatory, cinematic, cabaret, rock, jazz, comedic and foreign-language training are all put to use, create an unusually intense and wonderful experience raved about by audiences and press alike. After two previous sold out album concerts, Vogel returns to National Sawdust for two shows this July featuring his full body of work, including a batch of never-before-heard songs. Both concerts will feature unique set lists with distinct premieres, so make sure to catch both! “The ornate, intricately arranged record is a study of early adulthood…replete with ironic social commentary and sexual politicking” (OUT Magazine) “incredibly fun, vastly complex, undeniably sexy, incredibly rewarding, soaring” (Atwood Magazine) “true artistry, an extremely rare delicacy which proves that Natti Vogel may just be the voice we’ve been waiting for” (Born Music UK) “Indie rock fusion virtuoso” (New York Press) “an extraordinary presence with a larger-than-life personality” (OUT magazine) “Quirky, dark, sensual and theatrical with a rich, baroque voice” (MTV) “It’s not hard to imagine Natti Vogel throwing your own overpriced cosmopolitan in your face from behind his piano, but it’s not all Gawker set to music: behind the satire, there is a deep romantic yearning to get away from all that stuff” (A.V. Club) “The mysterious and talented Natti Vogel banters boldly and boasts outrageous style like a classic American diva but his vocals and composition soar higher than superstar pop music.” (Information Magazine, Denmark) “I’m pretty amazed by how Natti Vogel can jump from one genre to the next and still sound authentic. That’s a rare feat. Lady Gaga can’t even do that!” -Stacy Llambe (Entertainment Tonight, OUT Magazine) “”Natti Vogel has the presence of a rising international star” – the Global Times “At his most lyrical, Natti sings with an abandon that is not a product of Bloomberg’s New York, with its clean streets and bank-sponsored bicycles. It’s amazing how money produces pretty art that looks like money. Natti comes from an older tradition. With him, a song is not a brand or an act, but a strong hand tugging you into the dark.” Livingston Award Winner Lois Beckett for EOS

Sasquatch is a rock band from Los Angeles, CA. They tend to sip on influences from 70's metal, rock, and psychedelia. Their songwriting approach is clear-cut; keep the focus on the hook. The band was born in Philadelphia in 2000 and moved to Los Angeles in 2001 after Keith Gibbs (guitar, vox) joined up with Detroit natives Rick Ferrante (drums) and Clayton Charles (bass). Upon Clayton’s departure in 2007, the guys recruited Chicagoan Jason Casanova (Behold! The Monolith, Tummler) to join the fold. We arrive at 2017 and Dr. Craig Riggs (Roadsaw, Kind, Antler) is now shellacking the kit when he's not brewing coffee or watching the Red Sox. The band’s music has been featured on a variety of movies, television shows, and video games including the reissue of Clerks, FX’s original hit series Sons of Anarchy, A&E's Dog The Bounty Hunter, Jersey Girl, CW’s The Supernatural, and MTV’s Viva La Bam, Bam’s Unholy Union, and Rob and Big, NHL 2005, American Chopper, and Monster Garage. After shaking some walls with not one, but two, closely packed studio albums (the self-titled debut and "II") in 2004 and ’06, the power trio went subterranean until 2010 before resurfacing with a new lineup and propulsive third opus, "III", followed up by the straight-ahead rocker, "IV", in 2013. The band’s latest album, Maneuvers, was released on June 20th, 2017 and features the work of new basher, Craig Riggs, behind the kit. This is the band's most concise work to-date. Extended jams were stripped down to the meat and potatoes. Short and sweet is the path looking forward. Andrew Schneider (NYC) returns behind the boards this round. You may recognize the name as he also provided the mixes on "II". What fans hear is arguably the gents most mature and inspired song-set released, chunked with both heartwarmingly familiar moments – but all of it heavy on the heavy, as they say…always. Unprecedented attention was also devoted to spinning new yarns out of those evergreen rock and roll stories about love lost, hate found, relationships built and lives trashed, homes wrecked, etc. Look for the band to be gearing up for select US dates in the fall and its fifth European tour in early 2018. All’s fair in Love and Doom.

MOJAVE LORDS was born in Joshua Tree, California at Rancho De La Luna recording studio, where Queens Of The Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys, Daniel Lanois, The Desert Sessions, Masters Of Reality, UNKLE and countless others have created incredible recordings. MOJAVE LORDS is the brain-child of musical mastermind David Catching and his neighbor, the equally brilliant Bingo Richey. After years of working with some of the world's brightest rock artists, they decided to team up, strap themselves in to a homemade rocket and press the launch button. With some help from their friends; Brian "Big Hands" O'Connor, Barrett Martin, Chris Goss, Joey "The Sexy Mexi" Castillo and Danny Frankel, they made what the New York Times is calling "Dark, sexy rock & roll for a brave new race." This is the next wave of Desert Stoner Rock. This is mature, smart and visceral. This is UNFUCKWITHABLE. Featuring members of Eagles Of Death Metal, Queens Of The Stone Age, Screaming Trees, Tuatara, earthlings?, Masters Of Reality. DiNola: by, Dave Catching ( Producer/Owner “Rancho del la luna” recording studios, Humble host, Sweet lover, Mixer of fine cocktails, Tasty cook, Party coordinator.) DiNOLA personify all that makes their home, New Orleans, one of the greatest cities in the world. Listening to the bewitchingly beautiful voice of Sue Ford, her immensely compelling lyrics over the roar and rumble of the powerhouse trio of, husband Jimmy Ford on dynamically wicked drums, Eddie Payne’s solid, stalwart bass, and Eric laws preeminent guitar and keyboard skills, is likened to a night on the town in New Orleans. Known for their astonishing live shows, as well as the madness of performing with/as Pink Slip in many years of Mardi Gras parading, DiNOLA has sharpened their already incredible musical deftness to a whole new level. Their first album, “DiNOLA”, was recorded at my recording studio in Joshua Tree, California by Edmund Monsef, (The Cult, Smashing Pumpkins..), and produced by me, David Catching (QOTSA/ Eagles of Death Metal/ Pink Slip/ Masters of Reality/ Earthlings?? etc.) DiNOLA’s songs, “I wanna Die in New Orleans “ & “Vaporizer” were featured in the award winning documentary “Jonah Stands up” as well as “Sucka Punch” was featured in the movie “White Rabbit”, directed by Tim McCann. Their newest album and first vinyl release, “Up High”, engineered by Hayden Scott, (Awol Nation, Arctic Monkeys) and again produced by me at Rancho de la Luna, will be ready for release fall of 2017, and features songs: “Up HIgh”, “Shut up and Get out”, “Valley of the Wrinkle”, “ Apocalipstick”, “Late...

Three member indie rock/pop band from Little Rock, Arkansas. Current Members: Boots Copeland (bass, vocals) Cobo Copeland (drums) Drew Buffington (lead guitar) Past Members: Bradley Pierce (lead vocals, guitars, keyboards) Contact the band at: knoxhamiltonband@gmail.com Brother Sundance began playing the drums at the age of two — teaching himself the ins and outs of his favorite songs day in and day out. His Mother often quipped that he was born playing the drums and hadn’t stopped since. As a teenager, he picked up the guitar and began to sing, two efforts that eventually culminated in his fronting of punk-blues outfit Wallace. Wallace worked the South Florida underground circuit for a year before dissolving and giving way to Brother Sundance and his solo efforts. As a solo performer, he writes and records all of his own music, often playing every instrument on each song, and produces it all as well. He is joined on stage by an incredible group of South Florida natives, his best friends, and has worked hard to put together an exhilarating set. “It’s a battle, really, between past and present — past being the album, the recorded instance of each song, and present being the show, the moment at hand. The way those two things collide, the way songs take on new forms each night — it’s incredible. I live for that.”, Sundance says of his group’s show. His debut single, Blind, is coming soon, with an EP, HONEY, right behind it. Wild young men from Williamsburg who play synth pop and throw parties.

Pearl Charles lives in the moment, seeking excitement whether it leads her down a dark, dusty road or into the arms of a trouble-making lover. Her full-length debut album, Sleepless Dreamer, describes late night revelry, love affairs, running away and running towards, serenading the sunrise through whirlwind stories of her native Los Angeles, the city, the canyon, the desert, and the road. On a quest to discover the truest version of herself, Charles embraces the feeling of not being settled, a person who always restlessly wants more from life and is willing chase it, wherever it may lead her. Sleepless Dreamer finds her soulful, often sultry voice gliding through songs tinged with cosmic Americana, a little disco, some classic rock & roll, and a whole lot of that smooth AM gold. Passion, psychedelics and heartbreak inform the highs and lows she rides through the album. Finally able to see clearly through the smoke and mirrors of her surroundings, Charles departs on a consequent journey of questioning and soul-searching, eventually hitting the road in the inevitable search for answers. As heard in the title track, themes of disillusionment and subsequent realization run through to the album. Examined through the lens of relationships, whether it be the one between her and a lover, a friend, a city, the road, the world, or perhaps most importantly, herself, each experiences helps to shape her developing perspective and worldview. On “All The Boys,” she contemplates the cyclical nature of toxic attraction. Funky stand-out “Night Tides” looks at the illusion a person presents in the beginning of a romance, only to reveal their true colors once they’ve lured you in. She recognizes the pattern of being drawn to a tempting yet toxic muse over and over, but admits it fuels her creatively. While many of the songs revolve around romance, they are juxtaposed with more existential/philosophical tracks like “Ghost” and “Only In America”, examining the meaning of life and what plagues her generation of disaffected youth. Arriving January 2018 on Kanine Records, Sleepless Dreamer was produced and engineered by Kenny Woods (formerly of Beck) at the Haas Brothers studio in West Adams, CA. After working together on some covers for Aquarium Drunkard’s Lagniappe Sessions series last summer, Charles knew Woods was the right person to collaborate with on her full-length album. Enlisting an all-star band of friends, the album features the work of Father John Misty’s Chris Dixie Darley (guitar), Dan Bailey (drums), Eli Thompson (bass), and David Vandervelde (guitar), Darian...

STRAY is a meta-memoir based on creator Tanya Marquardt's experience as a sixteen-year-old runaway and BDSM model, and a New York transplant writing about this earlier stage of her life. A punk show with references to Patti Smith, Robert Mapplethorpe, and David Wojnarowicz, the show begins on November 1, 1992, the day Tanya runs away from home. Each song careens you through the chaotic years that follow life with Tanyas father, a traveling vacuum cleaner salesman; her first attraction to a girl and witnessing her self-cutting; being in a BDSM bar as an underage virgin; a writing teachers praise which saved her from suicide; and, how art sustained her throughout, poetically describing the pleasure of writing, a left hand scuffing across the page like a club foot or a piece of bread smeared in delicious sauce. The show will tour to Vancouver and Toronto's Summerworks Festival after its run at The Tank, and is being published as Stray: Memoir of a Runaway by Little A in September 2018. California places a distinct sonic stamp upon the music born with in its boundaries. Owens had his Bakersfield, Parsons his Joshua Tree, and Malkmus his Stockton, and in their tunes you can hear dust, desert highways, and skateboards gliding over suburbia. The Donkeys have San Diego, and from that environment have woven a fundamental ease in their music - a rock, a roll, a sway, a slide - you could even call it a breeze. On Ride the Black Wave, The Donkeys continue their easy rolling, classic vibrations, but add a mystery and tension that make this record their most lyrically and instrumentally compelling. Ride the Black Wave embodies what Jack Kerouac described of California's coast as having an "end of the land sadness." The Donkeys stare out at the ocean in a "fantastic drowse" - a kind of pensiveness towards their environs that summons the elements of sound and style that belong only to them. In "Blues In The Afternoon", a collective mantra, the band runs out of land and asks of the ocean to offer suggestions about their fate. It is songs like these that prove the Donkeys are a band in the true sense of the word, sharing each other's worry and wonder. With RTBW, The Donkeys have further caged their craft and have accomplished the delicate and artful challenge of taming the captured, while also letting it be wild. Recorded at San Diego's Singing Serpent and mixed by LA’s Thom Monahan, the Telecasters have a golden shimmer, the drums seem to echo with a regional reverberation. The notes coming off the Rhodes float on like beer-buzzed afternoons, but just when you get lost in the hypnotic swirl of "Sunny Daze" the churning guitars begin to circle like sharks, reminding us of the realities beneath all beautiful surfaces. Ten tracks deep, Adrianne Verhoeven of San Francisco's Extra Classic appears like the mythic Calafia herself, delivering a vocal that would bring Cortez to his knees. So, it is with Ride the Black Wave that The Donkeys add their own stratum to California's ever expanding musical frontier, while maintaining their golden "shine" as well as interjecting a tension with the sun and beauty. The record hypnotizes as much as it awakens; it poetically puts us at ease while we sit in traffic, peck at our keyboards in cubicles, or conversely, it accompanies us as we ride along desert highways, or sway with our lovers. It is about home; it is about waves, and surrendering to their movements, trusting that they will take us to where we truly belong. High Waisted will be your new favorite girl gang. Quirky 60's garage rock is re-imagined from the nose...
