ONE19 Productions first production will be a combination of two Israel Horovitz one-acts: 'The Indian Wants The Bronx' and 'Beirut Rocks' performed in one program titled 'A Night Of Horovitz'. As a company, we feel that it is important to reflect modern day society through theatre. These pieces explore how fear and rage poison the human experience through cultural ignorance and narcissism. Pop Punk High follows Derek, a young wannabe pop punk front man, on his journey to become king of Pop Punk High and win Amanda Bunkfaces love. It seems all but impossible for a loser like Derek, but when he finds a lamp in his attic containing the ghost/genie of a certain deceased pop punk princess fulfilling a certain internet conspiracy theory, his wildest dreams may be possible after all. With a score composed by Ben Lapidus, former frontman of pop punk outfit Best Intentions (2006-2010), and current frontman of alternative band Ambler, the show blends pop punk authenticity with a book full of inventive, obscene humor from Anderson Cook, the creator of The Disembodied Hand That Fisted Everyone to Death the Musical!, the low-budget smash hit that played various theatres in NYC for over a year and was subsequently licensed by the Boston Conservatory. The Disembodied Hand was featured in Time Out NY, The Jay Thomas Show on Sirius XM Radio, and many other outlets.
