I love Mozart as much as the next human person. (Seriously, Mozart > everything else) but maybe you didn't know that Mozart's sister, Maria Anna Mozart AKA "Nannerl", was also an extremely accomplished musician and composer in her own right. Unfortunately, we'll never HOW fantastic she was because none of her compositions survived (and she was forced to give up her pursuits once she was old enough to get married)... What a forking tragedy right? Unfortunately, we can't change the past. However, we can celebrate the women, people of color, and queer folks in the music and art space RIGHT NOW (and not so long ago).  The Past, Present and Future is Female, folks. Women wrote music and women are writing and they deserve a place in the canon alongside their brothers. That's where we come in. The Past is Female, too collective is here to showcase their work. We are here to tell their stories and sing their songs. We are here to shine a light on the past, and pave the way for the future.  This recital will include works by Ethel Smyth, Francesa Caccini, Florence Price, Fanny Mendelssohn and more.
